Getting to and from Antequera
Antequera is well connected with the surrounding area and whether you are traveling in your own car or using public transport it is easy to make your own way to Antequera.
By Bus
All main cities, towns and small towns have a bus service in and out of Antequera. The surrounding towns in the Antequera region have a daily bus service in and out of the Antequera.
By Train
The train service in Spain is very good and there is a good network across the country. However in most cases the buses are used more as they tend to offer a more regular service and are easier to use. Buses stop in the centre of most local towns and there is generally a main bus station to be found in the centre of main cities. Train stations on the other hand are often on the outskirts of town or in the case of the high speed train station it is 19kms from the centre.
The local train station in the town is on the Granada-Sevilla line. To arrive by train from Granada or Sevilla is therefore straight forward.
To arrive from Malaga or Cordoba one change is necessary in Bobadilla. Bobadilla Estacion is the main railway junction for Andalucia and only 15 minutes from Antequera. Therefore it is easy to make a change here but nevertheless there is a change involved.
RENFE is the Spanish network of trains and is where you can find travel times and itineraries.
By road
Commonly referred to as the 'crossroads of Andalucia' getting to Antequera by road is very easy. The Sevilla- Granada A92 and the Malaga - Cordoba A45 motorways cross at Antequera meaning that it is very easy to access the town.
| From Malaga The journey from Malaga is a little over 50KMS and will take approximately 45 minutes. Leave Malaga on the A45 motorway and follow directions for Cordoba. When traveling from the popular resorts of the Costa del Sol, such as Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Nerja join the A7 motorway and head back towards Malaga and leave at junction 241 which joins you onto the A45. Leave the A45 at junction 126. |

Sevilla The journey from Sevilla is a little over 160 KMS and will take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Leave Sevilla on the A92 motorway and follow directions for Antequera/Granada. The SE-30 ring road runs around the city of Sevilla and this gives access to the A92 motorway. Leave the A92 at junction 146. |

Granada The journey from Granada is just over 100 KMS and will take about 1.5 hours. Leave Granada on the A92G road and head for Sante Fe/Granada Airport/Malaga/Sevilla. The A92G is a more direct route out of the centre of the city and joins onto the A92 motorway. Leave the A92 at junction 149. |

| From Cordoba The journey from Cordoba is 115 KMS and will take about 1.5 hours. Leave Cordoba on E-5/A4 towards N432/Granada/Sevilla. From here merge onto A45 for Malaga. Leave the A45 at junction 92 and join the N331 straight into Antequera. |

From Malaga Airport
When arriving at the airport and once you have passed through arrivals, assuming no one is collecting you, there will be 3 ways to arrive in Antequera.
By taxi
As you come out of the arrival hall there will be a taxi rank with many taxis available. Taxis are governed and have a standard tariff rate for the kilometers they travel and waiting times. There should be a tariff board where you can consult the standard fares for travel to Antequera. If you are in any doubt check with the information desk before you leave the airport.
Taxis have 2 tariffs and they are based on time of day. The hours are 0600 - 2200 and 2200 - 0600. Then there are small supplementary charges for such things as large suitcases and traveling during the Feria of Malaga in August..
The approximate cost to travel from the airport to Antequera will be between 70€ and 85€ depending on the time of day you travel and the corresponding tariff.
By Bus
There are 2 buses that run from Malaga airport into Malaga city, Line 19 and Express Line 75. Line 75 is a faster route as it has less stops. Buses run regularly throughout the day from 0700 until midnight and the timetable will be on display at the airport, or by asking at the information desk.
For Antequera you must take the bus into the centre of the city and get off at the main bus station. From here you will be able to connect onto a bus for Antequera. Buses run regularly from Malaga to Antequera.
By Bus and/or Train
Trains run from Malaga city train station to Antequera (either via Bobadilla Station or Santa Ana Antequera Station). The main train station in Malaga is next door to the main bus station so you can take line 75 and get off at the main train station.
Alternatively you can take the train from Malaga Airport known as 'cercanias' to the main Malaga Train Station known as Estacion Maria Zambrano.
Arriving in Antequera by train means that you need to make one change. Either you take a train from Malaga to Bobadilla station and change for Antequera or you take the high speed train to Santa Ana Station and catch a shuttle bus to the town centre. Antequera train station is close to the centre of town but Santa Ana is 15 minutes outside town
